Key duties
- Visually inspect welds and fabricated assemblies against shop drawings and weld symbols.
- Check fit‑up, joint preparation and material cleanliness before welding; verify weld size, placement and profile after welding.
- Identify weld defects (for example porosity, undercut, incomplete fusion) and record non‑conformances and inspection reports.
- Confirm material grades, sizes and heat numbers and maintain traceability records.
- Prepare finished steel for shipment, verify counts and packing lists, and coordinate schedules with the foreman and office.
- Receive incoming steel, consumables and hardware; check against purchase orders and report shortages or damage; maintain inventory of stock and consumables.
Requirements and benefits
Applicants should be able to read shop drawings and weld symbols, measure accurately, handle basic paperwork and computer tasks, hold a valid driver’s licence and provide their own transportation to Arborg.
